I was thinking about The Women this morning, and how the real blow to um, the protagonist woman, was that her husband was spending money on his mistress - buying her clothes. She was diverting resources from the protagonist and the protagonist's spawn.

Here's a thought I keep in my head: not all adaptations are beneficial in evolutionarily novel environments like 21st century cities.
